I too have an 8900 running OS 4.6.1.114 and am running XP SP3. Mine (of course) works fine. Does your phone connect properly to Desktop Manager? If not, that is the problem.
The first thing that CrackUti does is to retrieve the OS version. I do this to establish that the program and phone are communicating. If this does not show up as it does in my picture then this needs to be fixed before looking elsewhere.

I have no idea what is hapenning here. I have run CrackUtil on 6 XP PCs here and one Vista 32 system and it works fine.
Are you trying to lod files to the phone or remove them? There could be security problems with loading certain files and it may be easier to use DM to do this. CrackUtil is a bit of a hammer and the file the nail for adding a file to the phone. DM+the installed OS is more subtle.
Can you try on a second PC perhaps? - 01-11-2009, 03:21 PM

I do not. If you phone works with DM then it should work with CrackUtil.
A last deperate try, download CrackPic and see if that works. - 01-11-2009, 07:44 PM #107
I tried it on a different 8900 which is on BIS. Worked perfectly with this one, so it must be the IT settings on BES preventing access to your program. Bummer. I could change the IT settings, but sounds like this could cause technical issues and even wipe the device forcing a re-activation.

If the phone is supplied by your employer and is therefore corporate property, it would be best to leave well alone as it could be a fast route to new employment opportunities.
CrackUtil will remove an IT Policy if you are running OS 4.3 or better but like I said above.... - 01-16-2009, 07:04 PM #109
Quick question. I do not have a password on my BB, but whenever I leave the field blank, and click ok, i get a "File Access Denied" any ideas? I've made sure the password is disabled, but still no luck.
- 01-16-2009, 07:59 PM #110
After you click OK, does CrackUtil show your device OS on the bottom left side of the window?
- 01-16-2009, 08:12 PM #111
Okay, I might have it now. When in Vista, even running as an admin per instruction, my OS would never show up in the bottom. It would think for a few seconds, and then it would say my password was incorrect, or my phone was not connected. I've since switched over to my Windows 7 Beta partition, and it recognizes my phone and OS now. I hope when I go to install the 8350i service books it will work in Windows 7.

I don't know if this applies to the 8350 or not, but you'd better read it: http://forums.crackberry.com/f132/do...ws-7-a-136316/

Pete,
I think I am overlooking something obvious that I should already know, but here goes:
What is the difference between "Wipe Device Applications" and "Wipe Device File System"? Each set the phone back to JVM Error 507."There are only 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't."How To Search ~ Search Effectively ~ Crackberry 101 ~ WiFi Guide ~ UMA Guide ~ SD Card Info ~ BB Browsers Explained
8900/9000/83XX Comparison ~ Up /Down Grade Procedure ~ Install Plazmic ~ Unlock Vendor Themes ~ 8900 Theme
8900 Disassembly ~ 8900 Keyboard/Trackball Observations ~ 3rd Party Theme Problem - 01-20-2009, 05:12 AM

This may be a bug, I need to check it. Wipe Device Applications is supposed to do only that and leave the OS as RIM shipped it (less what CrackMem has done). I am not yet sure where the problem lies. It could be one of three things.
1). a CrackUtil programming error (this is the most likely and I'll check it)
2). a problem with javaloader that simply does not do what it's told
3). an OS releated problem with interpretting the javaloader command
I'll investigate this and get back here with an answer. - 01-20-2009, 10:24 AM #118
Kewl, thanks Pete. Also maybe verify that it does do the JVM Error 507 with each button. I have not tried it yet personally, as I was just reading through the first post in the thread and I picked up on that so I thought I would ask. My 8900 should be in the mail today and I was planning on using CrackUtil for that and I thought I'd ask before I got into it.

I just used CrackMem. It wipes a phone just as well as CrackUtil. In fact when I upgraded my 8900 .114 I never bricked it. Th eLoader program that is called by DM will automatically issue a loader /nojvm (which bricks it) command once it has Backed up the phone and got itself generally ready to upgrade.

Worke Great to Reset IT policy on Bold
I posted here earlier today that I inadvertantly loaded my Company IT policy on My Personnel BB. I found this thread and downloaded the Application. Using the Reset IT Policy Function it reset my Phone to Factory (Inclued a wipe) and now I am back to where I needed to be. (I did do a back-up prior and loaded the back-up with no problems.)
Thanks for provideing what I will call a "Life-Saver" for me.
Thanks - 01-20-2009, 01:00 PM

If you delete anything other than what CrackMem deletes, you do so at your own risk. However, that risk is minimal and the damage recoverable as long as you have backup of your personal files and you have your OS installed on your PC. Worst case, you will nuke your berry, it won't be bootable, and you'll have to wipe and reload the OS. That's no more than a couple of hours work if you know what you're doing. So use good judgment about when you want to play with the files and you should be ok.

Don't know why my 8320 decided to bug out on me...I was removing my myFaves interface (pretty harmless, right??) when I got a JVM 543 error...couldn't use jl_cmdr to perform a wipe because of Windows Vista 64...this worked like a charm the first time...I was back up and running in about 15 minutes! Thanks Pete!!

Great app! I finally took the plunge and downloaded it. Your directions and pics were very easy to follow. I only ran into one minor issue. I figured out the whole vista issue. But the other issue was when I deleted net_rim_theme_bbdimension_zen. After the reboot, my apps were still on my bb but the app icons lost their color and I had a lot of strange unknown icons. I have no idea why this happened since my primary theme is the today theme but thank God you have that "load file to device" option! Other than that everything else went smooth. Thanks for all that you do!!
