You are right. This is clearly a bug. Well done for finding it. Have a cookie.

This little piece of code does work though and that is what will go in to V1.1

    cd c:\progra~1\CrackUtil
    javaloader -u cleareventlog

Save the blue code to a file called cl.bat and double clik on it with the phone connectd. Bye by log.

Bonus! Thanks again. This utility came in very very handy today. I just wish I had 4.5 on my Curve. The clear policy option would've saved me a lot of troubles.

The IT Policy removal limitation is RIM imposed. Thee is something in the OS that allows their javaloader program to clear the IT Policy only in OS 4.3 or greater.

I tried to write a program, CrackIT, that worked on all OSs and whilst the program worked, there was a RIM bug in the file that did the work.

Had CrackIT worked, thene there would have been a solution for all OSs from 4.1 upwards.

There is a work around but it is rather long winded. Here's the link http://forums.crackberry.com/f2/remo...y-phone-81401/.

Well hopefully AT&T will get off their collective a$$es and release 4.5 soon. My insider word has it most resources are tied updealing with the impact that PoS eye candy, the iPhoney, is having on the network.

I actually don't know what the problem was. My bro, the computer tech, fixed it.

When trying to use crackutil I get file access denied and it does not let me do anything?? I am trying to see if there is anything that can help me make Word in DocumentsToGo funcional again. Excel and PPT are fine. Go figure. It shows firewall or policy issue and only in .185v. .162 was fine till the upgrade.

The Help text (which I am sure you read ) clearly says to sync AND Backup before you did this. I hope that you did nt lose any data or programs.

Sorry for the delay in replying. I am not sure what is happening here so please just try cancelling thepassword and try anaing.

It sounds like CrackUtil cannot even contact your phone. The heart of CrackUtil is a program from RIM called javaloader and this program is very poor at recovering when things go wrong.

It could be that your phone has a harware fault in which case CrackUtil will be no use at all.

Have a look at some of these links to see if they are of any help.

Quick question: I'm (still?) using a much older Blackberry (in fact: 7230, OS 4.0, and Desktop 4.20). This was connected to a BES but no longer (though I still use the Desktop to connect to synchronise the corporate Outlook calendar and contacts). I'm just using it as a mobile phone, calendar, contact manager, and notes. Nothing is sent through wireless. So my questions are:

    - What tools would I need to remove the IT policy from this device?
    - What chance would I run that the policy gets re-applied the moment I first synchronise with Outlook?

    Thank you in advance.
I used to own a 7290. The best way to remove your existing IT Policy is to ask the IT dept. that imposed the policy to remove it for you. I do not believe that CrackUtil will help since it requires OS => 4.3 to function. It costs noting to try so download the program, connect your phone and press the button.

You ask about removal and subsequent connection to DM reinstaing the policy. I doubt this will happen but to be sure, please do a search of Program FIles for policy.bin. Remember where you found it (probably in C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\PolicyManager) as we need the location for the next step. Now run regedit (START, Run, regedit) and delete the key HKEY_Current_Users\Software\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\PolicyManager.

This will completely remove the IT Policy from your PC. If you connect to a 2nd PC then you will need to repeat the above process here too.

    HKEY_Current_Users\Software\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\PolicyManager

Thumbs up HowTo: Get All Features (WAP Browser, MMS) Working on T-Mobile USA with Unlocked Bold

    Hi everyone,

I am new to this Blackberry Forum at Crackberry.

I am a T-Mobile customer and like many of you, I couldn't wait and decided to upgrade to the Bold (AT&T).

I followed all the explanations provided by "Pete6" and by "PLTaylor" and it worked well for my device. However, it took me 3 attempts since I kept on having error messages after the completion of the 1st & 2nd attempts.

I used the Generic Service Book provided (tmo_servicebooks.zip) and the Software CRACKUTIL. Great job on the explanations as the entire process was easy and smooth.

So, a big THANK YOU to you guys and to all the contributors to this forum.

Despite all the upgrade and as T-Mobile customer, I am not able to use the UMA feature which apparently requires the upgrade of the device's firmware. It means that we can surf the Web through a Wifi connection BUT we cannot place calls through a Wireless connection. Maybe this could be another projects to concentrate on?

    Cheers,
    Kevin

Hi, I'm really confused and hope somebody could help me out! =)

I'm trying to install the TMobile browser on my Blackberry Bold, however when I download and extract the CrackUtil file and install it on my browser, it says "Error Code 2: System cannot find the file specified"

I followed the instructions on Crackberry:
    1) Switch off Desktop Manager
    2) Phone was connected to the USB.

Can somebody please advise as I'm really getting confused!

    Thank you very much!!!

Crackutil should be downloaded and installed on your PC, you should get an icon on your desktop. Then connect the phone by USB and launch CrackUtil on the PC, it should work.

If you have problems please post back with exact steps you followed to get the error - click by click so we can follow the sequence. I know its tedious but you have to be our remote hands and eyes.

Hi branta, thanks 4 your help. I downloaded Crackutil from the first page, unzip and install the file. Yes, the "Crackutil" icon was at my desktop. I connected my phone via usb to the desktop and clicked the program ans it still says Error Code 2: System cannot find file specified. Even when my phone is not connected to the usb, it still says "Error Code 2" Whenever I open the program. Do you know why?
