This is v1.0 of a newly released program. As you can see I have just had to reload it. I think the best expression to sum up this program today would be 'You can tell the pioneers by the arrows in their backs.'
I have taken great care to make sure that my program does what I designed it to do but this is, after all, day 1.
Unless you know what you are doing with the file manager and the wipe functions please do be careful with CtackUtil. It nailed one of my phones during testing when the office phone rang and I took my eyes off the screen for about 10 secs - 45 mins later and my phone worked again- duh. - 10-23-2008, 06:50 PM

Good stuff. When I get a chance I can try this on a Bricked virtually brand new 8100 (that I found in an ex-employess desk a few months back). I've exhausted every recovery method (here on CB) and now I have something new to throw at it.
I am not young enough to know everything.

Thanks Pete, as always, works great, and more importantly detailed documentation. I've been trying to remove an IT Policy from an old bb and I used a blank policy.bin but it made me have to use 6 characters and change the password way to often. This is a great and much easier solution.

The policy.bin solution is better because it does not wipe the device but there is a bug in the program that generates this file. The program comes from RIM and they are not interested in fixing it so the only solution is to use another RIM program - javaloader.exe. This is the 'engine' behind CrackUtil.
In truth all I have done is to put a pretty face onto JL_Cmder which uses javaloader.exe to do its magic.
The file manager is new and so is the logfile stuff but the rest is just a lift of JL_Cmder. - 10-26-2008, 08:35 PM #32
As always, good job. Thanks, Pete

I haven't been around CB much lately and I missed the release of one of the best utilities for the Berry

As always, great work and congratulations to the "Crack" team. All of your products come in handy and are great tools for Berry users.
CrackMem, CrackPic, etc have all been extremely helpful and I am positive that this utility will surpass any expectations people had for it
Nice job!!
No longer a CrackBerry addict. Moved to Android - could not be happier!

I just downloaded Release 1.0 of CrackUtil. I did not delete the beta files from the pre-release version, so the javaloader was already in the folder. I'm happy to report that the screen shot capability still works and launches Paint with the screen shot loaded, just like the beta version.

Pete, this looks awesome! I cant wait to give it a whirl.

It doesn't work for me. It launches, but it won't do anything. I click on an option, like take a screenshot, and I get a pop up that says either my bb isn't attached or my password is incorrect. I click ok, and the program closes.

I hadn't checked that feature, but when I saw your post, I tried it. CrackUtil retrieves the Log correctly, but it does not clear it on my device either. If I clear the log using the device menu, CrackUtil will read a blank log, but the CrackUtil Clear Log function does not.

I cant stan winblows vista! I would love to use this application as it looks like exactly the thing I have been looking for since I cant get JL CMDR to work on my new computer powered by Vista, and wouldnt you know, I cant even un-zip this program to even try to install it. Thanks a lot Microsoft!!!

I agree with you about Vista (Windows ME re-visited imo).
I run a single Vista system for testing only. It has two accounts a Standard account and an Administrator account.
I downloaded CrackUtil to the Standard account and installed it. It unzipped fine using the Vista unzip tool. Vista wanted Administrator permission and whatnot but it installed OK. I then had to use the compatability box on both CrackUtil.exe and on javaloader.exe to run as administrator. Both times Vista required my administrator account password (which is set to zero).
From then on, CrackUtil worked fine.
I uninstalled CrackUtil and re-installed it in my Administrator account and it worked fine, first time.
I did all this after I read your post.
I am not sure what is wrong.
I agree, Vista is a real lemon. A lot of my PC customers are upgrading their hardware but are transferring the XP license to the new hardware. They seem to not want to move to Vista. I have been rga;ed with all sorts of tales from 'others' who have had problems with Vista.
I have bought 6 XP Home kits on ebay just so that I can offer these to my clients.
Vista works fine for Microsoft and is very secure but it's the best advert Microsoft ever produced for Apple. - 10-29-2008, 10:49 AM

Sorry to hear this but there must be something that we can do.
There are some pre-requsites for running CtrackUtil.
- Desktop Manager must be installed and must have previously connected to the BlackBerry. You must not run Desktop Manager whilst you run CrackUtil.
- The phone must be connected before you run the program.
- Have a reead of my first post in this thread to see if any of the info up there helps.
I know this program works on both XP SP3 and Vista 32.Last edited by Pete6; 10-29-2008 at 01:50 PM.
