I am looking for an app that can deliver breaking news just as the Breaking News app does on virtually every other platform.

I thought of AP Mobile and their pop-up alerts but they don't seem to be working for me. Is there any decent app that can perform the function I am looking for?

I am curious to know how you configured the app since you are recommending it. I want the app to have a push type feature where it alerts me of breaking news particularly. Reading the description of the app you suggested seems it is just a ticker I can modify but it runs all the time when on the homescreen.

There is no push feature. However; you can set it up for headlines of your favorite RSS feeds to update as quick as every five minutes. Which I would consider basically push. You can set up an RSS feed for "Breaking News" if that is your feed of choice. And you are correct when you state that there is a ticker on the home screen until the home screen is out of focus or the back light times out. You can also turn that feature on and off when you please. I have used it and I recommend it to be informed. If you are only looking for a solution with push features, I have to say that I can't recommend one except for what you've already tried (AP).

You might also consider downloading the mobile app from your local radio or tv station which they probably have available on their websites. I know with ours where I live it provides breaking news texts to alert you and then you can also go into the app to read more...hope this helps

I tried that POS AP News app. Couldn't figure out how the push alerts work even after looking at their online FAQs and in-app help, so I emailed support. Got a generic "FAQs for BB users" email back. Click, click, delete app.
