He he, you beat me to it, it's not as clear but definitely usable.
The camera is actually amazing, you'd find it very hard to take a blurred picture with it, especially in sports mode.

First picture attached it taken with me spinning around in auto mode and the second while shaking the phone in sports mode, not one trace of blur.

Third one is in auto mode with the cars driving past me at 20-30mph.

Good pic. Is that with or without utilizing the digital zoom?

"Hard to take a blurred picture with it" - surely that depends on the lighting conditions - surely the shutter speed is going to be slower in dim light.

The quality of any camera is contingent on lighting conditions.

That was without zoom in automode. Didn't really do anything with the pdf app either. I am not saying its better or even as good as an auto focus for close ups. It is functional though just takes more effort, but I think takes less effort for my every day casual shots

Yeah, you know that CX -- he's just a hater. So is Adam -- how dare he post comparison pictures which show the 9780 takes better pictures!

Equally as bad as the haters are the apologists. The bottom line is that the camera is not as good as it could be. Does it only take crap pictures? No. Will it suffice for some people? Sure. But the camera on the two Torch models is better.

    Dude....why the crack back?
I don't recall me dragging anyone around.
90% of the smack i've read hear is about how terrible the camera is. It sure looks to me like the camera is just as good as my 9800 from a distance. (2' or more)
The document pic the OP posted was totally legible and IMO, sufficient.
The complexion of the negitive posts I've read is the 9900 is a failure w/out AF. I'm just saying I don't believe it is.
My apologies if I offended you in any way.

And here's an example where autofocus fails, everything is in focus except the most important part, the baby's face. Tiniest move and the shot was ruined. This was taken with my 9700 this morning.

belfast.....thanks so much for the sample pix.
This is what I'm trying to ascertain....will the 9900 take an acceptable close up.
90% of the pix I take (and I prefer to have one devise) are from a distance....5' or more.
Occasionally I need a close up like you displayed. Very acceptable IMHO.
Can't wait for this device to arrive on AT&T.

I have yet to see a true example of a picture taken by a 9900/9930 that justifies all the complaints.
