Is it ok to update on top of old version? Or should you delete the app and then re-install? Thanks

Through app world I believe it deletes it for you and reinstalls the new one saving all your settings.

Ive always used appworld to update the apps Ive downloaded there. If you got the app from say mobihand or crackberry stores, uninstall and re-install.

Generally, when you download an updated version of ANY app, no matter where you download it from it will ask if you want to replace that app with the new version. Its better to do it like that a lot of times because if you have user data stored in the app, it will keep it and transfer it to the new one.

app store is my fav way and i just hit replace the upgraded app with the old version.
