There is a rising trend amongst Twitter users to insert BBM emoticons into their tweets. An example:

"Lol!!!!*RT @Jaeytee: RT @rereyoung: Hold on tweeps, just got a call! *BBM on the phone smiley*****lmmaaooo omd"

I need to know, are people actually writing out "BBM on the phone smiley" or are people inserting these icons, and Twitter translating them as such?

Your BB is translating them as they are part of the BB ascii system.
