I was just watching the T-Mo commercial, when the guy takes a picture of the riding lawn mower bar code, and the phone searches for lower prices and what not.
Is there an app available for the blackberry? This would be a great app!

Yea,its an excellent app! My friend installed it on her Android G1 and she's lovin it. It just uses your camera to scan the bar code to the web then will tell you the closest retailers via GPS through Google Maps. I really hope they add that app to our BlackBerry community.

Sorry for the additional post but I forgot to add that in addition to it telling you the closest retailer,it also lists their prices for the scanned item also.

I haven't seen the commercial but it sounds similar to Scanbuy.
I guess in Japan and some other countries this is a lot more common where you snap a photo of the bar code and the reader application (which you install on your phone) will interpret it as text, or a link or something else.
Some phones are supported but not sure about Blackberry.
Try Slifter. It does a locatioon based search for product name, UPC or other info.
I found it on the Blackberry Mobile site in the shopping section. It didn't recognize the UPC I tested, but did get the product name. It showed me the 5 stores nearest my zip and what the published price was. Interesting.
I believer the program everyone is thinking of is Shopsavvy for the G1. I have been in contact with the creator of this program and he said they are working on a app for the bb. The company that creator the shopsavvy app is big in japan and the website is biggu.com I have also spoke with the creator of the decoding program which is and he said that the bbs camera is not good enough to do the same function of the G1. The bb doesnt have autofocus. Now maybe the storm will work better but as far as I know the other bb will not work for scanning 1d barcodes. I have other posts on this site about this same program.
