I've just realized that even though I'm using the default blackberry password protection so people can't use my BB, but if I lose my BB, the thieves can still take out the memory card to check on my photos, videos and documents. Any apps out there to lock the memory card or is the remote system wipe is the only way to prevent thieves from getting a hold of my personal content?

You can use the media card encryption built into the phone. It should be somewhere in security settings. If the built in one doesn't work well for you,my EveryLock application can protect your files.
