Will app world automatically tell you when an update/upgrade exists for an application that you have installed has one? Or do you have to manually check?

you have to manually check for updates. For instance when facebook updated, i had to find the download and do it manually. However this might not be true of all applications. Just in the few instances that i have been involved in....
^ actually the upgrade will be pushed to your BB via a msg, in which a circle/downward icon will show up on your screen. At least this was my experience for both BBM 5 and Appworld.
