I DLed the new App World update through App World. So after it finished installing there was a new icon on my screen for the App World telling me new there was one new DL.
I go to App World and click on it to acknowledge the DL.. but the Icon is still there. I did a battery pull and went through all the screens and everything else in App World to try to get rid of the Icon on my home screen.
Try viewing the apps that are notifying you of the update. Click on them like your viewing it to download. Then close app world. After that battery pull.
Not to be mean, but I'd also recommend a search. This has been posted a few times.
