This probably can't be done without changing the OS, but I figured I would vent anyway.

Basically, I use a Blackberry with enterprise [corporate] package, which enforces that I unlock the phone with a password. This gets very annoying when I check my Blackberry very quickly, have to unlock it with password, and then if I want to dim my screen right away, I must lock it again.

My desired functionality would be: the lock button does not lock the phone, only dims the screen [mostly to save power, et cetera] and then a program such as AutoLock would lock the phone 30 seconds later if unused.

This functionality seems really simple, yet my phone won't let me do it, and I'm either stuck entering my password hundreds of times a day, or constantly draining my battery. This makes no sense.

How about disabling lock on holstering then simply rest phone on top of the holster to dim screen and lock buttons etc. As soon aa you lift phone away again it should be unlocked.
