I found myself wanting to know the speed on a highway yesterday as I passed a cop. I didn't see any siigns giving me the speed for miles and miles. Figured it would be nice for to have an app that would use GPS to give me the speed to save me a ticket. Anyone heard of or have the know how to accomplish this?

ATT Navigator does that and more, but it's $9.99/month.

Sorry to state the obvious, and sound like an a$$, but maybe you should be paying more attention to the road, and its signs, than your phone...

the BB maps app shows your speed while in the car. I think that it only shows in MPH.

From what I understand from the OP is that they're looking for an app that tells you the speed limit on the road you're on. BB Maps doesn't do that, but will show you the speed you're actually going in MPH or KPH.

    Open BB Maps
    Hit Menu button
    Select "Options"
    Scroll to "System Of Measurement"
Choose either "Imperial" (MPH) or "Metric" (KPH)
