I saw the AP news app listed for $2.99 in the new app world. Funny I just downloaded it for free a couple of days ago. Hopefully this app world wont be full of rip offs like this!

It's looking like alot of products that were free (or are free on other platforms - Shazam/iPhony) are now going to cost.

    Corporate greed.

May be the reason the free version hasn't been downloading many articles for me lately...

There is a ton of other news programs out there that are free that pull important news story's from AP as well such as the Washington post. But as of this AM my free version that I downloaded last week is still working just fine for me.

me too, just compared my free version with my coworker's -- she downloaded and paid for it this morning [hehe] -- and it's the same

HOWEVER: I won't be surprised when an upgrade comes out that it will cost $2.99

    free=2.5.3 appworld=2.5.4

and you can still get the free version at APNews from your mobile browser.

EDIT: you can no longer get it from the link above to download the free version as it takes you to the app world site.

I downloaded it this morning. I haven't had much of a chance to play with it, but it seems as though they removed much of the touch screen functionality and half-filled the screen with the virtual keyboard required to move around.

Can anyone else confirm this? Am I missing a setting that will let me use it as flexibly as the free one?

Disable compatibility mode. Options > Advanced Options > Applications. Highlight AP News. Click menu button, choose "disable compatibility mode."

That appears to have gotten rid of the ubiquitous keyboard, but still doesn't let me use the touch screen to navigate. I did try a battery pull.

I have the free version too. At first the $2.99 price bothered me.
But the truth is I don't subscribe to any news papers.
This is a cheap way to keep reporters reporting.
I'm also contemplating donating to my local paper.
I read their content online but I don't ant the physical paper.

I got this app a couple months ago, like right when I got my phone I think, back in December. Anyway, I loved it as soon as I opened it up. The flick scrolling it did showed me what the storm was capable of with a few OS updates......there's been one......yeah......

I got App World but I highly doubt I'll be buying anything from that since almost everything I want I already have and paid.....0 for it.
