I have come to the conclusion that Facebook is terrible. I never know what I am gonna get.

If I use the Facebook app for my phone, I have to go into each one of my friends to see their updates and it is sporadic at best. I miss posts - and I know this because if I check the Facebook on my computer, there is tons I have missed.

If I use the mobile page from BB browser, it is terrible to look at and things don't always show up.

If I use Opera mini, the mobile app is somewhat better, but still kinda cooky.

The only time I get half decent info is if I view the "full site" in Oper, but navigation is painful.

Maybe the mobile pages and the app are meant to be trimmed down versions and only allow you to really update your status etc and to really get the full low-down is to use Facebook on a computer.

Am I correct on this or are other people experiencing better service than this?

FYI, I am using the latest version of FB App for phone.

I haven't had any problems, works just like always. Sure, on the app you're not going to get a list of the past 50 status updates, it will give you a smaller list of the most recent stuff, for the simple fact that it will load the past 10 updates rather than the past 50. I personally find the mobile site harder to navigate than the app, and I find the app to be the most useful when I'm not in front of my computer.

When you say that there's tons that you have missed, what is missing? Are you not recieving notifications from Facebook? Are you sure that you have the boxes checked in the notification settings on Facebook for you to recieve e-mail notifications for all the things that you're missing? The FB app recieves it's notifications in the form of the e-mails that are sent from FB to your inbox every time someone posts something to your wall, makes a comment, etc. FB sends the e-mail to you, it gets pushed to your BB, which then kicks the e-mail directly over to your FB app, which then downloads the additional comment information to the app for you to see. Go into your FB settings and make sure you have the boxes checked under "e-mail" to make sure you recieve your e-mail notifications.

Also, take into consideration that the FB app, just like the regular site, does not show every status update from every one of your friends every time. There has been many a time when I've gone to a friend's profile, and noticed that they had a status comment that never popped on the actual FB status update screen. For some reason, It usually puts the updates from the people that update it most often, the people that you comment on the status' most, or at least it seems that way to me.

I've noticed that I've missed some notifications at times. When I get a notification about a comment being made on something, I then find that there were about 5 comments and I only got one notification. RIM needs to take a few hints from Android's app for Facebook.

Maybe I am just a rookie at this FB stuff. But I was visiting FB on my computer last night. One of my "favorite friends" had a bunch of stuff posted on her wall that never got pushed to my wall on the FB app. I think that is how it is supposed to work, cause another friend had updated his status and it was pushed to my wall, but I never got a notification or anything. I find it very hard, but in order to view my friends' status updates I usually have to select friends and view their profile, but still never see all their posts. Maybe I have something not checked in facebook, but it just seems that the mobile site and the fb app never really reflect what is going on the full fb for my computer or.... maybe I just need some schooling.

Here's a typical scenario... a friend posts on his wall something and it shows up in the FB app. Then I go into another friends profile in the app and see that they have made a couple of posts, and still at that, not all their posts, but I get a post made by one of their friends on their wall. I then check the computer site, and this friend has made a half dozen posts and actions (like comments) and I never see them and if I do, then the times are all goofy and out of sequence.

The fb app doesn't always show status updates and live feed like in the computer version.

Also, really what is the difference between Wall, status updates, live feed, and news feed.

Why would i want friends? haha. This is a forum to customise your Blackberry with, not a place to socialise, haha. Why on earth would you need to know everything that happens on facebook? I think my original point of getting a life stands.

Forum administrators please delete this thread as it appears it someone wants to highjack a thread and make people feel like a fool even though they want to understand what limitations/expectations some software has.

If you haven't figured it out yet, Crackberry is for discussions of all kinds. I think the OP was bringing up valid points. And through his questioning/comments he might come up with something he is not doing.

I have many friends, and family on facebook, and very much like to know their status updates. It keeps me in the loop. And I have a very active wonderful life. So there

You must have not been taught manners when growing up (if you have grown up yet). If you have nothing nice and positive to say, say nothing at all.

Now be a good boy and pick on the kids at school, not on here.

    Ok, two points...

    1. Directed towards ashworth100. I don't know where you get the idea that this is a form for you to customize your BlackBerry with, because the forum that this is posted in is for 3rd Party Applications. Now, within this forum people can post issues that they are having with particular apps, whether it be problems or just simple observations, and try to get some assistance resolving any issues they have, that's one of the big purposes of this site as a whole, to discuss and help others with all things BlackBerry. You're providing nothing of any worth to this discussion, and causing more problems than anything. If the OP wants to know everything that happens on FB, he has every right to, and he doesn't need you throwing your opinion on the ring, telling him to get a life. I think you should take some of your own advice, and until you realize how to post something at least semi relivant to the topic at hand, keep your dumb *** comments to yourself.

Now, to get back to the topic, I've also noticed that on the FB app it will only show you the things that have just recently happened, it won't go back and show a certain individual's last few posts and comments unless you do infact go to their profile and look. On the news feed, that will show you when people post new pictures, update their status, post a link to a story or video, or achieve some level in a FB game or something. The status comments filters out all the crap and just gives you the most recent status updates for your friends. The Wall is the main page on someone's profile where people can post things, make comments to you, etc. Live Feed and News Feed are basically the same, Live Feed just updates like it says, Live.

The FB app will only send you notifications when someone does something that is directly linked to your profile. For instance, if someone writes something on your profile (wall) than Facebook will send you an e-mail, stating this, which then gets pushed to your BlackBerry, and kicked over to the FB app, which alerts you. You must have the same e-mail that you use for your Facebook account setup on your BlackBerry for this to work. You will recieve notifications for wall posts, status comments, tagged pictures, inbox messages, etc. You can find the whole list of things you will recieve notifications for on your Notification Settings section of your FB options. You will also recieve notifications on things that you commented on. Say for instance you comment on a friends status, you will recieve every additional post after your comment, as now your are linked to that status post. Same thing with pictures, wall posts, anything you comment on you will recieve notifications for new comments.

I'm just saying man, some folks on this forum have a short fuze when it comes to certain things such as searching for topics and stuff like that, but its very rare that someone just posts a comment like the one that you posted. It's pointless, and does nothing to help anyone with the issues they're having.

If you were having an issue with your BlackBerry, and you started a thread on here looking for some assistance, and someone posted something stupid like that on your thread, you'd be a little ticked off, because it does nothing to help out.

If you want to socailze, and talk about things other than BlackBerry, might I suggest you check out this forum, http://forums.crackberry.com/f36/. Maybe it's more suited for you.

You should probably check out this forum too...

I think RIM could take some pointers from the Android version of the FB app...it seems to run a lot smoother. Unfortunately - there is no other FB app out there or I'm sure we would have jumped all over it.

From what I've seen of the upcoming LinkedIn app and RIM's upcoming Twitter app....they all look the same (cookie cutter).
