Can anyone point me to the Amazon App on BB? There was talk in another thread about how to get it, but I still can't. This is one of the apps that I used to use all of time! I miss it !!!!!!!
Well, not 100% true. There are people that said (in that thread) that they got it to work with the 9000 (or something). Apparently, if you can trick your web browser into thinking you have a 9000, then you can download the .JAD file.
I find that accessing amazon through the browser less cumbersome than using the amazon app on wife's iPad for example. Same with EBay. I like having access to the sites entire features.
I tried the browser. On the 9930, its just too big (not enough on the screen at a time). I didn't care for it. Plus, I really use the "remembers" function.
This was my first foray into the world of Java, and I'm surprised that I was even a little bit successful.
I used BB's 9650 simulator with the MDS package so I could download and install both apps onto the 9650. Then I used javaloader.exe to pull the .cod files onto my computer. And finally I just sent it to my 9930 and recreated the .jad (installer) files using FishLoader.
There was probably a much more elegant solution. I'd be very interested in knowing how I could streamline the process.
Attached to this post is a .zip archive containing the apps.
To install directly, move the files in the "Mobile Installers" folder onto the device and then open Amazon.jad and Kindle.jad. Each will open what looks like an OTA download prompt. Download and install.
To install using BlackBerry Desktop Manager, browse for the .alx files (located in the "BlackBerry Desktop Installers" folder) using the Application Loader.
As this is my first post, I can't share links, so I must disguise the direct link (for those who don't log in): mediafire [dot] com/?z651cyktmrucs56
