E-Mail++ does a very fine job. Not free but worth every penny.

The dev is very responsive. Try contacting him for an answer to WiFi only. Beats me but my best guess is yes.

Try Logicmail -> LogicMail for BlackBerry
It works fine with WiFi and it's free.

Email++ is a great app. But it doesn't replace your normal email client, it enhances it. And, unless I'm missing something, none of the enhancements have anything to do with method of transport.

    The settings should be
    - for incoming mails:
    Server: imap.gmail.com
    use SSL
    Port: 993
User name: your Gmail address "[email protected]"
    Password: your password

    -for outgoing mails:
    Server: smtp.gmail.com
    use SSL and PLAIN
    Port: 465
User name: your Gmail address "[email protected]"
    Password: your password

Hi Wolle ( or anyone else who can answer this )
I'm trying to setup IMAP mail using our Davmail server. The only difference in the setup is that the port mappings have been changed for security and other reasons like the existing ports are used, and for the love of Mike I can't find any concrete example of setting up mail with a different port number. ( I tried servername:10143 but this doesn't work - it does work on Android and IOS devices )
Your post hints that port numbers can be specified, if this is true where can I find it?
    Thanks
    Al
