Question Windows Live Messenger + WiFi?

Hey there,

I used to be a BlackBerry user for a long time but I am not anymore. I remember that Windows Live Messenger only worked if you had a BlackBerry Service Plan.

My sister's plan expired and she wants to use Windows Live Messenger. I tried logging in but it gave me an error 65: problem receiving data from server. I am guessing the reason is that the BlackBerry Service Plan expired.

Is there a way to use Windows Live Messenger on WiFi with NO service plan required? I came across this article: KB17099-"Connection error 65" is displayed when trying to log in to Windows Live Messenger for BlackBerry smartphones

I'm not sure if it's supposed to fix it, but I am going to try and see where that goes.

Thanks.

The Windows Live Messenger BlackBerry application is a RIM application. It requires an active BlackBerry Data Plan to work. The data is routed through the RIM servers.
