What do I lose if I don't backup before OS upgrade?
Phone connects to DM but I can't backup. If I proceed with upgrading my OS what will I lose? BBSAK backs up my 3rd party apps but does it backup my contact list?
Thanks - 02-22-2010, 07:50 PM #2
BBSAK will only back up your apps. When you do the OS upgrade it will do a backup first, but most people will do another one first just in case. You could lose contacts and your calendar if you use it. Do you sync your phone to any other app on your PC or any remote app? If you do you can always fall back on that if something goes wrong.

Should have mentioned I'm on BES and I don't sync my contacts. My calendar syncs fine.
I'm aware that DM makes a backup first but that's where the problem is. I get the error and then stops there without installing the new OS.
The status at the bottom shows as connected with the correct PIN but no active device is shown. - 02-22-2010, 08:05 PM #4
Might be a problem with your DM.

Yeah...I thought that too. So I tried backing up on both my office and home laptops with the same result. That leads me to believe that there's a problem with my phone's currenty OS (.428) since it does connect as a drive and I can move files around.
I've had many problems with 428 (frequent reboots) and am eager to upgrade to 451. Sucks that I'm gonna have to lose all my contacts.
Wish there was a way to export my contacts.
