Default Upgrade to os5 as a mac-user?

I've been looking around on the forum for quite a while now. I've come to the conclusion that it's impossible to upgrade a 8900 curve from 4.6 -->5.something, for a mac-user if I understand it correctly?

Nothing is impossible.

You will just need to run Windows in a Virtual Environment, like Parralell or Crossover.

Right, I tried it through vmware, but no success; following the other howto threads on how to upgrade os :/
Then I found some other thread saying that it was a problem with using vmware, so I'm kinda back to where I started again. Crossover won't run any of those apps, since the runtimes aren't support. Parralell I'm not to sure about (didn't try). Main problem I think with vmware is that it takes like 1 second to many to hook the usb up to the virtualmachinea '
Think I got a bit further now, restored the device to 4.6 again; started up vmware once more and tried to install the update, now it say's that this version is only available for "Only active BlackBerry subscribers..." so I gave it a wack with SSBSAK, followed the instructions and wiped it again...and now I'm back where I started again

You don't have any friends who:
* Have a PC
* Are willing to borrow their PC to you for an hour?

That's the easiest way.
