Update OS on unlocked Storm 9520

Hi

I hope I'm in the right forum.
I have a Storm 2 9520 which was bought unlocked, previously locked to Vodafone. My carrier is Orange but they do not support the phone so if I try updating the OS through the option on the phone, desktop manager or Blackberry site etc it just says there is no update available. My OS version is 5.0.0.497 and I have seen on the internet that a higher version is available. I can download it from another carrier's site but I don't know if this will mess up the Orange settings on my phone. Can anyone help?

Its quite simple, it makes no difference about the carrier just make sure the OS is the correct one for storm 9520 download and after a wipe install using an app such lyridicals shrink an OS and that's it even the vendor file for carrier is deleted ..any issues just check around on the crackberry site where you will find any help you may need. Hope this helps

Will not mess anything up. Download the new OS but be sure to delete the vendor.xml file so that you can load the new carrier OS.

Hi all,
I just read this after having a similar issue as I have an unlocked Storm 9520 that was on vodafone and that I'm now using on o2.

I found an update on o2 and downloaded it but after I ran it it doesn't seem to install on my Storm. Where would I find the vendor.xml file? Is it in the update exe. file?

it is located where loader.exe file installed. C:/program files/commonfiles/researchinmotion/apploader/
