Default uncaught exception after update to OS 5

    Hi,

I just updated my 8900 with the latest official OS 5.0.0.411. At first it looks quite good. Everything went well. Then I did a battery pull, just to refresh the whole system. when it start up, it shows this message 'Uncaught exception: Application net_rim_bb_phone_app (57) is not responding; process terminated'.
Then I click on the OK button and go on with using the phone. I don't see and feel any problem with the phone. Everything seems to be working fine, except my email, when new email comes in, it only shows on the messages icon, it doesn't come out on the email icon itself.

Can anybody help me explain what does this mean?

    Thanks

Look in your event log, and it should tell you what app is causing the error. From your home screen, hold alt and press L G L G. Scroll to the bold text, click it and see what it tells you.

Thanks for the info. I managed to view the log file but I still couldn't find the related error message. There are a few of the bold text in the log. None of them are explanatory.

Copy, paste and post them up. Maybe me or someone else can come up with a clue. Just be sure to provide the contents, just the bold line will probably not be enough.

Now it is become weird. I did a restart once again, and the error message still showing itself, but the log file has no bold text at all. What happen?

strange - I'm getting the same error albeit randomly on my S2 with 428. I just posted it in the S2 forums - will let you know if I learn anything. Meanwhile, could you post your phone's permissions under options>applications>Core>phone

I saw a thread somewhere else that mentioned this same type of error (having to do with module "net_rim_bb_phone_app", although not "(57)" exactly.

They said to go into your applications list, core, and HIGHLIGHT (don't select), bb menu, edit permissions, and set all to "allow". SAVE

I have not had this problem but have been trying to educate myself on all the quirks that are out there with different OS's and Models of BB.

^ thanks that was the first thing I tried...saved and then did a batt pull...no go.

The weird thing is that it was happening randomly before and today, I'm getting it every time I reboot...

    Question

Each time I reboot I get the "uncaught exception: object already exist"... something like that. I then have to reboot again to get a clean reset.

    Any suggestions?
    TIA

Check your Event Log, uninstall and reinstall the app that's causing it. First boot after an OS install I almost always get that, but it should clear with one pull.

I'm sure it's right in front of me but where do I find the "Event Log"?
I've gone through my entire device and can't find it.

I found a bunch of gibberish with no reference to any app except for QuickLaunch which I use to reboot the device. And none of the events have dates except the current date & time I'm accessing the log.

    Any suggestions?
