Standby has been removed from the Mute button on OS's > .5xx. The lock button performs both functions now.

Downgrading is the only way you will get the lock button to function the way you speak off.
Any OS above .500 will have the lock button lock, and the mute button mute/pause.

The OLD Standby Button, which is the Mute button (Top Right) does not work as a Standby button after about OS .5xx... the Lock button (Top Left) will put the device into Standby mode and if you want more information about actually locking your device or other ways of using the new Lock button you might want to look at How to Lock a OS 5.0 device.

This thread really needs to be re-titled or just deleted. Completely misleading since the "issue" the OP is talking about is not a "problem."

Forum Administrator's are not going to waste their time checking the title against the content of every thread around here.
Now back to the OP... I'm glad I could could help.

The standy is a fix as far as i'm concerned. That was getting pushed in my pocket and taking me offline all the time.
The upgrade has ruined the camera, making it take longer to shoot, takes fuzzy pictures with smaller files.
The upgrade makes me lose 3g to edge, at my home where previously has great 3g. On the road.
The upgrade has made the bluetooth harder to lock in with my garmin gps.
The upgrade seems to make UMA harder to switch to and hold.
Anyone gone back down to 568?

No such problems here. Try wiping and reinstalling.
