OS upgrade effect on language input (Chinese)

Background:

I live in the US, and I have an AT&T-branded Bold 9000. After I bought it, I needed the ability to read and input in Chinese (in addition to English). I downloaded a version of the OS (4.x) from a Hong Kong carrier that allowed me to have both Chinese and English.

My question:

Now I want to upgrade my OS from 4.x to 5.x. If I do that through the Blackberry desktop software, will it return me to an English-only version?

In other words, if I want to upgrade to 5.x, do I need to go back to the Hong Kong carrier and download their version of 5.x?

There are 3 main types of OS versions...

MultiLanguage
AllLanguage
East Asia

If you require Chinese input settings, then you will need to download and install an East Asia OS version. If your carrier doesn't support that OS type, then you will have to look elsewhere for it and install their version. Just remember to delete the vendor.xml file before you start.
