OS 5.0 for T-Mobile 8900 anytime soon?
So Im a T-mobile customer, I have an 8900 curve running on the same old OS 4.6 that came on it. I've seen the leaked versions of the new 5.0 for this phone, but I've been patiently waiting on the official release, and Im beginning to wonder if RIM just forgot about the 8900 all together! Does anyone have any information about an official release?? Please share your wisdom!

Just sounding off...the 8900 is on the 5.0 upgrade path from RIM, but if you wait for T-Mo to release it after RIM does it'll be 2011.
I've been running 5.0.0.411 for almost 60 days now and it runs very well and very stable..
RIM/T-Mo where is the love!?!?!? - 01-05-2010, 06:16 PM

I don't think RIM is the culprit, I say it's T-mobile. I think they're afraid of customers griping about all of the little querks and bugs as with any OS, always a work-in-progress. i think the OS is better, as well as the keypad being superior to that of the 9700. The battery seems to have better longevity, than w OS 4.6, and I think the boot screen is cool too. Visual Voice mail is a plus too, although, one must change their current phone to the 9700, in order to add VVM to their account!

If I'm correct that was a mistaken forum post, and is not accurate. There has at no point up to this date been an official 5.0 for the 8900. 5.0.0.411 was release by bell mobility for the 9000 recently. And i agree with madcow, its the carriers that are holding up the release as stated by RIM's latest announcement.
