I think maybe I'm hearing things. But I have my phone in the leather pouch and that usually padded the vibration, but anytime my phone showed signs of life while at work, it sounded a little louder. It is usually on my desk and before I would usually see the flashing led and notice either an sms, mms, phone call or email came through, but now I hear it. Maybe I'm hearing things.

Does anyone know how to upgrade to this OS without being a BB service subscriber?

Install Instructions for Carriers other than Hutchison: -------------------------------------------------- 1. Download and install OS file to the PC. (Make sure you uninstall previouse os first)

2. Delete the "vendor.xml" file in the location "c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader"

3. Connect your BlackBerry and execute the file "Loader.exe" in the location "c: \program files\common files\research in motion\apploader"

You don't need to have BB service for any os upgrade unless you do it OTA. Send me a p.m. If you have any further questions. Hope this helps

Thanks. I finally upgraded to this newest version which seems to be better than the v4 that I had before.

Last question, can I uninstall v5 from my PC now?

Anyone else care to report how the progress is going thus far with this new update?

Any glitches? Any cons? Do we see battery drainage speeding up? Are 3rd party apps functioning properly? Facebook? Twitter?

I upgraded from 4.6 to this for kicks. I keep getting the "uncaught exception java.lang.error" whenever I reboot, though. Anyone else having this problem?

Facebook and Twitter seem to work just fine. Can't comment on battery life as I upgraded from 4.6.

Hi, I downloaded this firmware but when when I try to run it, it says, "Error reading setup initiation file." What does it mean? My PC is on Win 7. Thanks

Maybe - I rarely put my phone on vibrate at work so I guess I can't tell - interesting observation though!

Hey I just got app error 532 (I'm not too sure of the number!) reset while switching between programs. I just shut password keeper and I got it.. So I had to reset it. Working fine now though. Will keep using it, and if it happens again then I'll consider re installing the os, or if other people are having the same problem, then I guess I'll downgrade.

Any one else have this problem?

installing as i type this right now. had a weird problem with the Wind Hella's 5.0 update.

My texts started showing up on my BBM and though i get a new message, i can't open it or if i do its blank. But from the subject title i can read it.

So if a message is too long i can't finish reading it as it doesn't show everything on th subject title.

Hope this version will fix this issue i had, did a jlcom wipe as well.

This OS is amazing. I just upgraded from a solid 509 and 681 kills 509. Super fast and no errors.

decided to upgrade from tmobile's os (4.6.231)
tested it for a few days now.
-phone is far faster
-65%; far better battery life after one full day of heavy use
-threaded sms
-one or two bugs since i upgraded
overall i haven't regretted upgrading to .681
