| |  List of hidden Vendor.xml locations
I don't know if this is generated by the OS install file, Desktop Manager, or Windows. There is a brief thread HERE. However, I wanted to start a list of secret vendor.xml locations, since I had trouble doing and OS upgrade list night.
I'm running Windows Vista 64 Home Premium SP1. DM 5.0.1.37. I installed 9700 OS (East Asia) 5.0.0.743 - Optus Mobile. In addition to C:\Program Files(x86\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader, I found a copy of Vendor.xml here: C:\Users\Me\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
Neither Shrink-A-OS, nor CrackMem deleted Vendor.xml from this location.
Edit: The conclusion is to search your entire C: drive for vendor.xml, and delete all occurrences to make sure AppLoader loads the OS.

Yes. I had to delete both manually (although Shrink-A-OS or CrackMem would have deleted the copy in the AppLoader folder).

Nope. This is the first time I've encountered it. I'm going to check with my .586 OS install file and see if it crops up. If not, I'd chalk it up to the .743 install file.

Also a tip for others is to right-click on the Shrink-A-OS .exe file and choose Run As Administrator. I've found that if you don't in Windows 7 then the program doesn't have rights to actually delete anything in the directory since it's a sub of Program Files.

One critical point. When you search, make sure you click Advanced, and choose to look in Hidden and System Files, or you will probably never find the hidden file.  Posted from my Supercharged Onyx at Idon'tneednostinkin'mobile@crackberry.com |
