How to wipe the os on a 9650?
Im trying to wipe my 9650 back to factory settings mostly to get rid of the os update .699
Ive tried "Options > Security > General > Press Menu > Wipe Handheld" but there isnt a general anywhere. I did find just a wipe handheld but it didnt take my apps off or restore the old os. What do i do now?
Thanks in advance. - 10-20-2010, 03:45 PM

Finally just called Sprint.
This is what they had me do:
Type: ##RTN
Hit Call Button
Hit Continue
Pop up: Erasing Information... Warning
o not pull the battery out until erasing is complete
Then it wipes and is done. Unfortunately this didnt wipe the os so im back to sqaure one. - 10-20-2010, 03:51 PM #3
Not sure about your file path but I don't seem to have any issues with it... Options> Security Options> Security Wipe, I then get a choice of things to check off to have wiped, "User Installed Applications" is one of them.
This won't get rid of the .699 OS that's on your phone though. It will wipe all your settings, and personal stuff off but leave the 5.0.0.699 OS.
If you want to do a complete wipe (507 error) you need to use a program like BBSAK or JL_Cmder then you can load a new OS. If you're just looking to upgrade or downgrade your OS doing a simple search will get you the instructions. - 10-20-2010, 04:01 PM

I'm not sure what you're trying to do, or what your question is. Please explain more...

Im trying to install 6.0.0.280 on my 9650. Id done it before but this time it wouldnt work. it kept bringing everything up and afterword my phone would still be running the .699. I though maybe it was because i was running 5.0.0.699 so i erased it using bbsak just now. Now my phone reads reload software: 507 and i dont know how.

Well if your using BBSAK, and the 6.0 is actually installed to your computer, then just click "Load OS" in BBSAK. Or you can go c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and double click the loader.exe file.

It doesn't give me that option, just wipe device, screen shot, install cod and factory reset.

Doing it the other way says it doesnt have software for the device and to contact my service provider.

Sounds to me that you don't have the OS actually installed to your computer.

I thought you were installing the 6.0 OS? If you want .699 back then just hook it up to the Desktop Manager and check for updates. It will then proceed to install an official Sprint OS to your phone.
If you want 6.0 then you need to install the exe file that you got off the internet to your computer. After doing that any of the steps I mentioned above will work. - 10-20-2010, 04:37 PM
