Ok i got this wierd notification icon on my bb 8520 with OS 5. I attatched an image on the file because its hard to explain.

What application is using it??

An app is trying to tell you something. Either to update it or try or buy a new app from the same company.

To find it, go to Messages -> BlackBerry menu -> View Folder. Look for a folder called New Apps. There might be an unread message in there. For me, it was an ad from the Jared Company, advertising a new version of Facebook Chat.
You can also look in the folders called Notification or WAP Messages.

All you need to do is go into your combined 'Messages' folder.
There's an update for an application you installed on App World, that's it.
