Downgrading from OS 5

My computer automatically upgraded to OS 5 when I connected my blackberry to the computer. The sound/ring tones are absent, so I wanted to downgrade back to 4.6, so I downloaded the software. Once it gets to step 5 --"Connecting to boot ROM/Uploading RAM image", my blackberry becomes disconnected and suddenly a message pops up on the computer about an issue with the USB. This is frustrating. I am in the middle of looking for a job and going in for interviews. I don't need to miss calls or text messages.

Can anyone help?

I guess no one else is running into this issue. I searched the other threads, can't wipe my bb clean with CrackMem, so I guess RIM found a way to make sure you can never delete OS 5.....

I ran into similar problems, on os 5 i was able to get most of the sound working by pulling the battery and waiting 10 sec. But text message sounds don't work so i am right now trying the downgrade. I got the usb error message when i was upgrading to 5, pushed past it and the phone was usable. I am working with a 9000 bold.
