Controlling a particular app's sound profile?

I have a Facebook IM app and whenever someone IMs me it makes an obnoxious alert. Is there anyway to silence this? there isn't a way through the app's options (wtf?) so i was wondering if I can do it through permissions or something.

Please help, I hope I didn't waste $5 because this alert is really annoying. thanks.

What exactly do you mean by "a Facebook IM app"?

Is that the name of the app? Is it a paid app? Is it part of the Facebook app?

Does it show up in the Sound Profile options?


Also, the reason that you might not have gotten responses is that this really isn't the right forum section.

Yes the app cost $5. It's called Chat for Facebook in my AppWorld. The application icon on the Home screen says "FIM". I contacted support but they never got back to me.

I don't see anything for it in the sound profiles options. what forum would this be best suited for?

3rd Party Applications would have been the correct forum.

You posted in the "Official BlackBerry OS Forum" which is for discussing the BlackBerry Device Operating System releases.


If it does not show up in the Sound Profiles, then your only hope is to see if there is an option in the application. So you will have to continue to try to get in contact with the application developer.

You might also ask a forum moderator to move your thread to the correct forum where you might get more input from others who have used the application.
