Default Company blackberry question

I currently use a company blackberry and i think it uses some company server program. My questions is lets say i send emails from my blackberry email not lotus notes per say. Can they see those emails? Also if i text from it can they also see the texts themselves? I ask because i had the phone replaced and they never took my old one. When i got the new one everything i had installed was on the new one. I thought something like getting my emails or texts is invasion of privacy but if its not really my phone does it fall under that?

If you send emails using your work email address from your work BB then yes these should appear in your Sent item within Lotus Notes - the reason they had everything on your new BB is probably due to programs required by the company and they did a remote back up of your device from the server before activating your new device.

If they wanted to they can see your SMS too.

However as a work device then surely it is for work purposes, I have a work BB on a server and a personal phone so that the 2 are kept seperate and personal and work do not mix.

You typically waive some rights to privacy to use a company phone. See here for more details.

Can a BES administrator read my PIN and/or SMS messages and see my phone call logs?
Yes, if the BES is version 4.1 or newer and the device is o/s code 4.1 or later.
  • Starting with BES 4.1, the BES admin can log all PIN and SMS messages to the BES server, including the content of those messages.
  • BlackBerry Messenger messages and conversations can also be audited by the BES administrator.
  • In addition, the administrator can view all phone calls made/received to the device including date/time, number dialed, and the name of the person you are calling or who called you if that name is listed in your contact list.

Is there a way to turn something on the phone to not allow them to see my texts. Also Are they gone from view after i've deleted them off my phone or can they see it cause its stored somewhere on their end?

Nope. You can't change it on the device. You need to use your own device not attached you your employer's BES.

Even if you delete it on the device, it's still on their servers.
