| | Blackberry Won't Upgrade
Wassup guys,
this is really annoying me now!
I CANNOT UPDATE MY BLACKBERRY!
The version my phone says is: v5.0.0.681 (platform 5.2.0.67)
and i know this is not the latest version.
When i connect my phone to my Blackberry desktop software it says there is no updates available. says i have software version: '5.0 bundle 1168'. and if i search for updates it says i have none.
i have tried manually installing but i when i get to the apploader is just says i have the software that i'm trying to upgrade it to already on the phone.. which i don't. so i tried reinstalling that and it stayed at 0.681 still! i've heard the latest software update for blackberry curve 8520 is 5.0.0.1036 if i'm not mistaken.
i have attached some pictures.
any help is much appreicated.
thanks guys.

There are 2 vendor.xml files that you need to delete because your carrier only wants you to use up to .681.
Delete both vendors.xml files and try again with apploader.exe

Desktop Manager will only search for the latest official OS release from YOUR network provider.
Virgin Mobile's latest release for the 8520 is OS 5.0.0.681 which you are already running, hence the message there are no updates available.
If you want to upgrade to an OS version higher than your network provider currently supports, then you will have to download and install that OS to a PC and update your phone manually.
The latest official version for the 8520 is actually OS 5.0.0.1067 and this can be downloaded from here
Once downloaded and installed to your PC, you'll have to delete the vendor.xml file from C:/Program Files/Common Files/Research In Motion/AppLoader
When you've done that, make sure you've backed up your phone's data and any 3rd party apps, then plug your phone into your PC, click on the file Loader.exe located in the AppLoader folder above... and update away
Good luck

Open the Command Prompt on your computer. (Type CMD in the Run box.)
Type this command in the box to search for ALL the vendor.xml files.
dir /a /s C:\Vendor.xml
Note the location(s) and delete the files.
Then try the Loader.exe again.

picture attached | If the new OS is not showing up, then you still have a hidden vendor.xml file somewhere on your PC.
Try the command prompt SwitchBeach gave above, or do a full search and delete it.
Some info here... List of hidden Vendor.xml locations
