| | Which app is leaking memory?
I am wondering, hope you guys can help me find out:
I have running OS 5.0.0.1036 on my Bold 9000!
Start up memory (after I installed my apps)is around 25MB, after lets say 4 or 5 hours (without using the apps/Bold heavily) it drops to 14MB and then it drains to 10MB during a day..
The apps I have installed:
Google Maps (use it maybe 1 time a day)
Google Sync
TuneIn Radio (use it 3 times a week)
WhatsApp (use it 5 times a day or so, depends)
Facebook (open it 4 or 5 times a day)
Twitter (open it 6 times a day, no posting or so)
BerryBuzz
BerryWeather
Quicklaunch
BBM (using it a lot during the day)
And the BBT Design Black Theme (The creator says the theme won't use any memory, so it must be one of the apps I have installed he told me)
Can anyone tell me which app, by his own experience, is leaking memory?
Thanks in advance

When I had my 8330 BBM and FB was a memory eater. Just not as much as yours is. It may also be the OS.
I'm betting it's the OS. you Should get a hybrid.

I'd wipe and reload the OS, and then install apps one at a time to narrow it down. I have all the same apps you have except WhatsApp & TuneIn Radio. But I have BB6 so my results will be different than yours.

regardless what a theme developer says, 3rd party themes leak memory - thats just how it is.
my suggestion is to remove the theme, and run the phone for a couple of days. if your memory problem disappears, there you go. if the memory problem continues, my next suggestion suggestion is these in decreasing order: google sync, whatsap, facebook, twitter.

Alright, I just set the default theme on my bold 9000 to see what the memory would do!
And yes, the memory stays around the same as the boot-up-memory.. So it true about 3rd party themes..
Too bad, becasue the default theme of RIM is such boring...

I use a BerryGoodThemes "Today" theme and have NO memory leak. It is the only 3rd party theme on my device. Could the issue be a combination of Theme/App conflict causing the leak?

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com | I agree with this. Most themes DO NOT LEAK but some do. Remove your theme and try a different one or run with the default for a while and see.
Then of course, it could be an app; so one at a time you will have to delete those and see which it is if you want to be a "leak detective"...ask me. I know from experience.
There are plenty of themes that DO NOT LEAK tho so don't despair.
If you go on OS6 then you can despair, like me...no themes |

I downloaded the Google Maps 4.0.4 and my memory was leaking so bad I had to remove it. I never had that issue before with my 8330 or my first 9700 and was surprised, actually shocked, to see this major leak. My Meterberry icon was reading 81.5 prior to the install and it dropped to 52.5 after the install of Google Maps. I also installed Roll Call and a flashlight app as well and started with removing the flashlight app first, no change, then the Roll Call app and still no improvement so that left the Google Maps app. Once I removed and restarted my memory went back to where it was prior to the install which was a little disappointing. So I will use BlackBerry Maps for now which hopefully will be fine. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them.

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com | make sure when you are done using google maps that you "Close" the application. if you just hit the escape button, google maps will stay running int he background. fromt he app, you have to hit the menu button, then "Exit" to close it out. i have had ZERO issues with google maps, and i suspect your memory problem is because you weren't closing it correctly.

When I used a theme by foppa1, it leaked memory badly sadly, so I went back to the stock precision zen theme on my 9630. Memory leak gone
