That is what I thought. I am still scratching my head over it. I have saved the chat and I verified with the person I spoke to that they think that will work. I have an 8220 and I see that they are radically different BlackBerries. I even asked them about the screen resolution. They insist it will work.
I think I'll call again.
Normally, I'm comfortable tinkering with my BlackBerry. For some reason having that sound issue makes me feel really nervous about messing with anything. Yesterday I spent the day waiting for calls because my grandpa wasn't expected to live much longer and I needed to help my brother in the Army find a flight to get him home in time for a funeral. I missed two calls from my brother and two from my mom because they never even rang.
ETA: Here's the chat. I edited it because it has my full name in it. Quote:
Tmo: You can choose to install the software for the Blackberry 8220 as it is 4.6 in your desktop manager to change the software back to 4.6.
Me: Aaah. And the BB8220 software will work fine on an 8520 even with different screen resolutions?
Tmo: That is correct as it is just the operating system.
Me : Okay, fantastic. So I would be fine to upgrade my 8520 to the 5.0.0.822 that is available through Tmobile. If the sound issues happen again, I can download 4.6 from the 8220 via Tmobile and downgrade my os to that one. Is that correct?
Tmo: That is correct.
Tmo: If the issue is not resolved the we can look into an exchange. I am not showing any known issues with the 8520 software update.
