 5.0.0.438 on 8310?

This site claims "The BlackBerry used for this tutorial is a Curve 8310 on AT&T."
Yet, "8330 5.0.0.230" was the software used to load it onto the '8310'.
Is this possible anyway? Using hacked firmware, ANYTHING!? 4.5 sucks and it's insanely slow. 
Phone is unlocked, debranded, everything. Has latest 4.5 software (GROSS).
