The sp625 is more like the 801 on the passport I believe 808 is better

I've read that the 625 out performs the 808 in multi-tasking but not in gaming. So for me, I'd prefer the 625...

For those complaining about battery life, what do you guys do that takes so much juice? If I don't play video games and just do the regular emails, text, and web browsing I can squeeze out 2 days worth of battery life from my galaxy S5. I have power saving mode on at all times to cut down background apps.
I never use battery saving mode and don't ever want to be forced to do so. I don't play games, but I also want the things I do on the phone to be as quick and snappy as possible.

So the same way you're talking about why people care about battery life, I wonder why people care so much about its ability to run games so much... differences in priorities...

Well that sucks, no really it does, disappointed in that 625 processor , it's a damn 808 with minor upgrades.

Keeping my priv so it seems.
    Um, no it isn't...

    Geekbench 3

    Mercury
    Single Core: ~910
    Multi Core: 5050

    Priv
    Single Core: 600 - 1200 (so 900 average)
    Multi Core: ~3000

so - on the single core - it is more or less the same, just battery is more efficient.
on multi core, i.e. when it is most important for Multitasking, it is in some cases - twice better.

so performance is miles better on multi core, slight better or almost same on Single core, no overheating, and much better battery consumption.
    looks like win for me.

oh, and it is not slider. which is additional win.
"But the number is smaller! So it must be worse!!" -not me

Thanks, but that doesn't answer my question.

What I like to know, since the model number is only 1 higher, are the two processors almost the same technically? Can the 626 be used without serious extra engineering?
it is basically same, only difference being the clock speed (2.0 ghz on 625 vs 2.2 on 626).

So TCL could basically use the SD626 and have a 10% faster Mercury?

...and please the number fetishists with a higher number ;-)

But the 808 is still a higher number so it must still be better!!1

How can the benchmarks be out if the phone hasn't been officially announced? Ooohhh, you're still looking at that "mercury!"

Those were just party favors from a BlackBerry office secret Santa swap!
phone would be ready 3-6 month ahead of launch. reliability testing will take 3 month for compliance of carrier required set... The bench mark usually can be done after critical design is completed, because reliability test only tweak at reliability, not performance.. The performance spec - bench mark was fixed at critical design review stage, when the bill of material, including processor, memory etc key components are finalized. IMHO.

The 8 en the 6 are only the serial-numbers. The other two numbers are the ones that matter! And 25 is higher than 20/21!!!

Really? Looks like the 808 may be able to beat the 625 in single core due to the faster A57 cores but falls behind quite handily in multicore by almost 2000 points thanks to the decent speed of 8core A53 setup. I think I'd solder a 625 in place of the 808 on my PRIV if I could

Depends on your budget. Are you then saying the 335 is a bad car?

    I sure would.

The 335 would have a turbocharged 3L straight 6 engine while the 518 would be a gutless 4 cylinder engine. I'd still get 30 mpg in the 335 too.

Would love this to be 300 USD, but I find it unlikely. Isn't the DTEK50 in the $250 range? I agree though, that pricing this in the $500+ range is a problem. Sure, Samsungs may be more than that, at least at list price, but I know nobody who actually pays anything near that with all the incentives they give...and Mercury is no Samsung.

Doubtful the Mercury will have any of those incentives, so this has to be priced competitively out of the gate IMO.

Since DTEK50 was released with $299 price tag with less powerful spec, I would say Mercury will be like $399 price tag with snapdragon 625. It's bit disappointing that they're using snapdragon 625. I would rather pay more for snapdragon 820 or 821. At least, they should come up with 2 different version?

This phone is going to be the best phone on the market in my opinion. The screen and keyboard look so great. I think this is going to be a good one. Doesn't matter what it's got under the hood.
