    16GB storage
    2GB memory
    4G LTE
    Micro SD

True. But the Leap is a lower cost, lower risk product designed to be flogged at the enterprise customer alongside the Classic.

The SoC of the Z30 is different to that used on the leap. It is not only that additional 200 MHz on the core(s), but rather the updated GPU it sports.

I guess it supposed to be the new generation z10 so it would seem right to have some hardware upgrades.

The Leap seems much more like a budget version of the Z30. Essentially not much of a downgrade in terms of hardware, you'll get an LCD display instead of Super AMOLED, everything in a cheaper package.

That was my first thought. No reason why our Q10's wouldn't be able to handle any OS that this device can.

That's what I keep thinking, especially with the Z30 being sold below $250 on the various specials. Just goes to show you the viability of the Z30 in 2015. A great 5 inch all touch built for efficiency. And it'll be supported for a long time with these new phones being released.

If I were a true start-up entrepreneur, I would look for the Z30 being my business tool, not the rehash Leap. The Leap looks like a cheaper build designed for Asian budget market release.

I just hope more people recognize this and get the Z30 instead. Such a great phone.

The Z30 is a very premium feel phone. You have to move quickly to get one though as they will sell out and Leap will be the only touch phone available.

Is that me or more likely like Q10/Z10 ?

The BlackBerry Leap sports 2GB of RAM, 16GB of on-board storage and as strange as it sounds, a three-year-old processor the MSM8960 last seen in the BlackBerry Q10 and the Z10.

It's a side grade. Ppi is slightly lowered but you gain battery life, miracast and a bunch of other features. Similar side grade of a Q10 to Classic.

The Z30 is almost 2 years old. Shouldn't the budget version of the Z30 be a Z30? I honestly don't understand the point of the Leap. Wouldn't that be equivalent to Apple coming out with a budget version of the iPhone 4?

Z30 is out of production line. What happen so when they are all sold out? They need the Leap to fill in between

What do Apple and Samsung do when they sell out their product lines? They make new, better products, not cheaper versions of their old products. And why is Z30 out of the production line? If it's because it sold so well and there is a huge market for them, then why not just keep making more? If it's out of production line because it was a flop, why do they think a version with lower specs will sell any better?

My point is, how much does it cost BBRY to produce a Z30 (TODAY, but with same specs as in 2013) vs what it costs to produce a Leap (in 2015)? Even if the Leap is cheaper to manufacture you have to account for the money spent on research and development for the Leap, which probably could have been spent elsewhere.

They didn't spend **** on the Leap... most of it is reused parts from the Z3 and cpu from Z10,Q10,Classic. It's clear that the slider is the upgrade path for Zs at this point... Z3>Z10>Z20(Leap)>Z30>Slider(fulltouch and slider fans)

The Leap is a successor to the Z3 and Z10 the same way the Classic is the successor of the q5 and q10.

In any event, I'm not impressed with the direction Blackberry is going with their phones. Chen talks a good game about going after the niche market and focusing on productivity and security, but then they release a "budget" device like the Leap. I do like the way the BB10 software is improving, but wish we had some nice hardware options to go with it. Not everyone wants a Passport, and the benefits of BB10 over Android wouldn't justify my purchase of a Leap over a mid-level Samsung.

Chen said that the leap is for "low enterprise".
Companys with hundred or thousands of employes don't want to spend too much money.
Blackberry has more market share in enterprise so the first goals is to get these type of customers...
They don't need snapdragon 8xx because they don't play hardware intensive games with their devices. candy crush etc still runs fine.S4 is good enough and they can build cheaper devices...

But yeah it is still priced to high.
Sony M4 aqua ist way better specced and it cost 279. Unveiled on MWC 2015...
