On paper, the Z30 has better specs. However, I understand that for some US users, the Leap has better LTE support.

Bottom line, the Leap should provide a similar experience to the Z30, if slightly slower in a few specific use-cases, but it is 1.5 years newer.

Haha Yh! I'm not fussy about a few seconds as long as everything else is up.to par.. I am sure it will be!

My z30 is suffering some wear and tear now and thought why not! Something new until the slider is released!

New Phone Smell! Undeniable happiness from that alone. And I happen to think the Leap looks striking, kind of Porsche-design inspired look. Z30 looks a bit generic nowadays.

Coming from a Z30 you are going to be disappointed in the Leaps rear speaker unfortunately. The Z30 speakers blow the Leap away.

yes that is one thing that I know I wont get on the LEAP... but ill survive as im not much of a loud speaker person, both for music or calls...

the one thing I will miss is the hdmi out, although I have an adapter to that eliminates that issue!

I'm still considering getting another Leap. The really bad speaker was it's only fault. The big screen and battery were really nice. Overall build quality was also nice. I may get another soon and see if I can live with the poor speaker.

all the bb should be able to use as conference call phone (sufficient clarity = wide range frequency to differentiate who is talking, loud enough for over come background noise and allow few member of the team in a room to listen to the call). Like the Z30 and old 9860 speakers. additional amp does not provide the mobility and ease to use that required for the business usage. As for the price and cost, it not only depend upon the MFG, but also the exchange rate and age of the product (the age of the design). Most likely, the willingness to pay value. Most of the chaps on this forum willing to pay more just to smell new... the others, like some of the users brought 9860 from Amazon is very happy with it still. (many more happy with PB using pin to pin video chat in the kitchen via wifi). I rest my case.

Exactly. I use speaker phone a lot and sometimes it is because other people have to be in on the conversation. it would be embarrassing to try and have a speakerphone conversation with the speaker sounding tinny and rattling when turned up. The speaker being on the back of the phone makes things worse.

It is an older generation AMOLED display, and you're right about it not being too bright - but I wouldn't call it dim; I find it is quite usable in all but the most intense sunlight.

Incidentally, you may be able to eliminate the yellowish cast by tweaking white balance in Settings / Display / Display Color Settings:

True, the Z30 has better speakers, but seriously, if you're going to use either device for music, a third party Bluetooth boom box system is way better. Both devices have Bluetooth, so the speaker thing isn't really an issue, for me at least. That's because I have a very portable Sony Bluetooth sound system.

Agree 100%. Specs do not necessarily mean a phone will perform badly... iPhone and iPads should be irrelevant hardware If we go by this logic. Similarly, I have no doubt the leap has optimised to run 10.3.1 and future updates with current specs... I have a z30 and am thinking of getting the leap while I wait for the high end slider or all touch. I know it isn't much of an upgrade.. But the z30 is really starting to lag now.

For example I answer a call and it is a good 2 second delay before the screen changes to active call status...Same when making a phone call..

I am wondering if despite it's specs... It just isn't optimised for 10.3. Some will say this is bs I am sure... And I am no expert at all! But I have seen people start threads with similar issues on their z30's.

Maybe the leap won't suffer these issues?
The leap comes out of the box with 10.3...the only thing I wish it had is a sleep sensor for the holster to sleep the device also the holster has no magnet for that reason...other than that it's a great device had mine for 6 weeks and had absolutely no issues...not do everybody I guess

The less powerful battery may be compensated for by the slower CPU, and much less capable GPU - both of which should be fine as long as you don't try to run the latest and greatest android games.
    Wrong, wrong, wrong.

    a) Z30 has an S4 Pro SoC which has enhanced CPU cores (Krait 300). So a pure "GHz vs. GHz comparison" is not possible as the cores of Z30 were faster even if they had the same clock speed as the ones of Leap.
    b) Stating "Better GPU is only for games" is just misinformation. Browser rendering i.e. is heavily GPU-based and noticeably faster on Z30.

Some people may like their Leap and that is no problem at all. I just don't understand the constant misinformation spreaded concerning the speed advantage of Z30. Z30 is much faster and you'll notice it immediately, even when using only native/preinstalled apps. Deal with it, even if you like your Leap. It makes no sense at all to try to bad-mouth Z30 to justify your decision for the Leap.

More facts from Anandtech, including a simulated 1.7 GHz Krait. The benchmarks clearly show the adantages of the advanced cpu architecture and prove how much faster the then-new cores are (Krait vs Krait 300)

"In general, Qualcomm claims we should expect a 15% increase in CPU performance at the same frequency for Krait 300 vs. the og Krait. Factoring in clock speed improvements and you're looking at 25 - 30% at the high end."

You guys who say the Z30 is better based on specs (and not personally trying one) are one of the reasons why people from other OS' won't try a BlackBerry.
