I'm experiencing the same kind of issues but it has only started recently for me. But I have found a few threads here. It may be hardware issues. Or software issue heard both sides of this issue. So I am at a loss on what to do as well besides loading an autoloader and having a fresh install.

The Leap is know for having possible issues with its speakers. Particularly with "crackling" and "low volume" . This is normally due to a hardware issue.

Some have retuned their Leaps for a replacement version and sometimes it helps while other times they get the same issue.

I would say, Update your OS to the latest (if possible) and if it really matters to you, do a Facotry reset and see if that improve the volume.

I had same issue with Leap. Had 1 year warranty, so I brought to Rogers Canada to send out for repair, got a loaner (albeit a pc of crap) was back in 11 business days as promised and worked as good as or better than new.

I got my Leap through Rogers last year in June. In December, I got tired of the crackling (been) there for a month or two. BlackBerry thru Rogers replaced it with brand new and it is crackling now. For all audio and has limited to volume. The first time I thought maybe I had done something, but now I think it is an actual design problem similar to there earlier track ball wear outs.

I had same issue, mine was under warranty still so had it repair through Rogers Canada and all was good again. That was back in March. Now, crackling sound that also causes a sort of vibrating sound as well from ear speaker. Makes it very difficult to hear the caller. Out of warranty now, but hard to find someone who repairs the Leap speaker. It s too bad because phone is awesome for me. Want another one, but I have heard that this is a common thing with Leaps. You would think that when replaced, a higher/better quality speaker would be installed when being replaced. Apparently not.

When you guys told about speaker you refer at speaker from the back of the phone right?

Not the ear speaker. The ear speaker was comon issues on z10 z30 q10. Someone has issues with earspeaker?
