Does it have some significance? Personally, I think it's a bit silly and except for the Passport* doesn't follow the naming convention of the other BB10 devices.

I suppose I should know the answer to that but it just is bizarre sounding.

(*Edit: Passport and Classic, my bad, but Classic at least makes sense.)

So you're saying the name just "leapt" out of a hat at them? (sorry, couldn't resist)

It was carved in the carrot the rabbit had in his mouth when he leaped out of the hat.

That would have created quite a buzz - the BlackBerry Leak. Then we could say we're installing a leak on our Leak.

I guess what I mean by this thread is that "leap" signifies to me moving forward. This phone just doesn't scream that concept.

I just finished reading Losing the Signal, the book about BlackBerry by The Globe and Mail writers. They talk about when RIM was still in its infancy, they had a device called the Leapfrog. I wonder if maybe the name Leap is an homage to the Leapfrog? Google search "RIM Leapfrog" for an image of it.

It signifies the leap out of the window that the investors took when they saw it.

Actually, I'm pretty sure they just got the name from a random word generator.

Personally, I would have preferred something like Blackberry Slate. Slab. Monolith.

The Blackberry Monolith. Now THATS a name with impact. Even if it makes as little sense as Leap.
