Has anyone found out with certainty that the unlocked version with no SIM will work on the Verizon network, in case Verizon drags their butt and I can get an unlocked one? thank you

The world is moving from GSM to LTE. Verizon Wireless never used GSM--they used CDMA--but they do now use the same LTE technologies that AT&T and T-Mobile use.

So for example, if you go to the Apple store and buy an unlocked phone, it will work just fine on VZW, AT&T, and T-Mobile. Surprise, surprise.

Now, the unlocked phone may NOT work with Verizon's older CDMA stuff. For that, you'd have to make sure you buy it from Verizon.

Yes. Moderator BigBadWulf through his conversations with those who would know has confirmed those on Verizon will be able to use the KEYone.

The one with no SIM, right, so the Verizon band is one of the ones on the phone? I just want to be sure because I am jumping on an unlocked one the minute they release. Thank you

There's 3 KEYones: BBB100-1 (USA/world GSM), BBB100-2 (non-USA GSM), BBB100-3 (Verizon); only the BBB100-3 has CDMA bands required for using anything non-LTE on Verizon. If you were to purchase it unlocked from, say, Shop BB or something like that, you'd most likely end up with the BBB100-1 or the BBB100-2, so you'd need to stick in LTE areas.

Oh yikes. Ok, thanks for the info. It seems you're saying the unlocked one for GSM would only work in limited areas, those with LTE service. Sounds risky

I am planning on getting a phone from the Canadian site as the US version does not have the 700mHz band for AT&T.

The spec sheet says the BBB100-1 has bands 2, 4, 17 and 30, though.

The spec sheet seems to show that the 100-1 “GSM” has the same and even more bands than the 100-2 has. So the 100-1 should would on cdma towers with straight talk shouldn’t it? I have found some decent prices on 100-1 models but want to make sure that it’s ganna be usable on my cdma straight talk. GSM is not strong where I live.
