So is this phone not expected to be sold on shop blackberry like the Priv was? Fido doesn't carry it. If I am getting one from UK, which carrier should I be getting it from?

Oh, I'm 100% with you on this! I've got a Rogers PRIV running on Fido and the last security patch is from February 5, 2017 with nothing showing up as a new update. *Grr*
Take out the SIM card, connect to WiFi and check for updates. It should be there.

No dice. "Your system is up to date" request response.

Maybe try borrowing a Rogers SIM from someone.

Why not buy an unlocked version from the US when it'll be available on the 31st?

Or from Rogers directly, after paying a $50 bill to do so.
    I never like carrier monopoly....

Just to be clear it likely won't be ShopBB as they take care of historical Blackberry devices not the KEYone so will probably be on the BBMobile site.

    Warranty concerns, possibly.

Great find. I just set a reminder for myself for the end of the month. Here's hoping there is some truth to this, so I can just buy the phone and move on.

To the OP regarding the title of the thread : the first step to recovery is to admit that there's a problem. Now that you have done this, you have to figure out what the solutions might be. I could give you some options, but I'm sure you wouldn't like them. You'll have to do it on your own. LOL

In regards to Rogers delay on OS update.

This is why we are here at Crackberry, we can update without Rogers.

+1 They said that the "options" will be on their site, just like the Rogers pre-order option is on there now.

I'd expect it probably will be Amazon (or some other online retailer like Newegg Canada) for us here in Canada.

Don't understand why they don't have a preorders for buying direct from bb mobile so we can have it in hand in may 31.

Post no longer exists... though it used to show this:

I hope that doesn't foreshadow unfortunate news...

Amazon.ca order will be fantastic if so, however doesn't really explain why Amazon.co.uk has had a preorder page on Amazon for their May 31st release, and Amazon.ca wouldn't, unless they're specifically trying to make the optics better for Rogers' exclusivity, or something silly.

I am confused too as a Telus customer. I want to buy it outright but not sure what my options are. Sigh...
I have a Pixel that is locked to Rogers and I get the monthly update right on time every month.
Rogers will push it out right away if given to them. I'm sure TELUS operates the same way.

This may be an exception to the rule, though. My understanding is the Pixel is a lot like the iPhone, in that it's carrier-locked, but the manufacturer independently determines the update schedule, not the carrier itself. Could be wrong, however.

I didn't think of this prior but I also have a Pixel C tablet which has no data plan. It also gets updates early every month. So I guess how Apple does it which is through your Apple ID. Or in this case, Google account
    WiFi only for both :-)

The problem with buying a locked phone and then unlocking is that you are still "locked" into that carrier's update schedule.
Quick question - I've only ever purchased locked and unlocked with a third party. If you purchase factory unlocked do the updates still come OTA automatically like they do when purchased locked? Or, do you have to plug them into a computer or something to manually download and install them?
