Is there a way to get down the notification tray with a keyboard shortcut instead of swiping down from the top? Reaching the top is not so easy sometimes, so that would be great

This is an interesting question that I'd like the answer too... also, change your signature

That would be magnificent! If there is no way to do so, we should address BB to add this option in future software updates. Reaching the top of the screen is the most annoying thing on Android. And probably the most common way to drop a phone. Hell, I'd be even okay to assign the convenience key for this purpose.

I've played with this a bit. I've tried a couple of things.

The first is assigning the 'Open Notification Bar' app to a shortcut - which seems to work but is a little slow.

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ft.opennotibar

The second was to use the 'Back Button' app
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...pp58us.backkey

I'm using this to put both a back button and a notification button in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. If you play a bit with the settings it can look really neutral as an overlay.

Ugh, that gives fullscreen ads! I've removed it it (There's a pro version too which might not have them).

So far this one looks great though:
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...tatusbar&pli=1

It's fast and only using 64k of storage, so I can guess from that there's not much code or other stuff in the app to get in the way!

The question is... do these apps work without root? And are they Nougat compatible? I have no way to check it now, did you check?

But does the backbutton on the keyboard not only work in the homescreen?

It will only work on the home screen because shortcuts are embedded into the launcher, and not into the device settings.

Meaning they will only work when the launcher is in focus.

Yep that's what I meant. Back button as shortcut is useless then. But the notification drop down is nice as shortcut. Just tap quickly homebutton and shortcut for it and you're done. Thanks for the advices

The only way I got it sorted by using another Launcher, like Nova. You can either use the Nova Launcher swipe down but then you'll lose keyboard shortcuts however you may be able to just add Notification keyboard shortcut using Nova actions on one of the physical keys using BlackBerry launch.
