I would love to upgrade from the z30 to the Key1, but the K1 is way too expensive. $600-800 for it? C'mon now, I think it would have been better business to sell it in the $350-450 range, A LOT more people (not BlackBerry users) might have been interested. Thanks

Oh well, I guess you'll have to look at one of the other pkb devices on the market that has a more appealing price point for you.

Instead of cutting the price in half, and loosing money on every sale, they should maybe give them away and capture even more market share.

If they did sell the Keyone for 350 - 450, there would still be that group of people that says that price is too much. You can't please everybody.

The good news is that the price will eventually come down to the price that you are comfortable with.

I'd love to know how much it costs to build the k1. Not nearly as much as you may think. Lower margins higher volume is how you build or rebuild a brand. Not charging an arm and a leg.

The only ppl buying this phone are BlackBerry fans, period. We've been through that song and dance before.

I agree with conite (which makes a change ) BB phone users are pretty much the only people buying BB phones, this is the reason RIM no longer exists and BB software is the only part of the old BB still in operation isnt it!

TCL think they can re-establish the brand so good on them, time will tell... in terms of the price I think it cheap for the quality of the phone (as long as you dont have one with a faulty screen etc) and I think they under-valued the phone to maybe pick up the odd new BB user... I only got mine on Friday and I was genuinely shocked at the high quality of the build.

TCL is happy to flog their Alcatel brand to the masses. The Blackberry Mobile brand is strictly a niche play to both the corporate client and the Blackberry loyalists.

I'm willing to bet the majority of their 70 million users (in 2013) were from emerging markets where the KEYone isn't even sold.

I'd liken this play by TCL as more of a gamble and they had money to lose so why not try.

I give TCL credit though for trying.

You never know the gamble might pay off, if you look at most of the phones now the only difference is the badge!!! I looked at photos of the Pixel 2, all mirror finished phone, looks nice... then my mate shows me the IPhone 8 and guess what, they have an all mirror finish with smaller bezels... its like clones of each other, so something different like the K1 might catch on.

Only Enterprise would even consider paying extra for hardened Android. TCL believes there is some room to gain share from Samsung Knox.

Is the KEYone price still a thing in the forums? I thought we got past that back in March. Strange because most reviews talk about the price being good

I doubt it... don't think TCL is going to overbuild the KEYone, so I don't think they'll reach a point where they have to write off inventory and sell it at a discount. Should be a small price drop as component prices fall, but don't expect to see a repeat of the PRIV.

Your right about that, if you notice the resellers are not overbuying. So there will be no dump of phones.

Just bought a Galaxy S8+ to substitute my Priv (which has been acting up lately) and I own a KEYone (which I love); frankly IMHO the difference between S8+ and KEYone in terms of usage and productivity isn't much, but the price differential is significant. Therefore I find it rather ironical that people are complaining about the KEYone price. People ought to buy phones according to what their budget allows.
