I purchased a UK K1 and I am on T-Mobile here in the US. I want to add all GSM Bands to my phone and I know it can be done but am unable to find reliable instructions for K1.

Does anyone have insight as to how this can be accomplished? Is there an "escreen" for K1? Any special codes to get into a development mode?

    Thanks

    (PS my phone arrives today!)

There is no need to manually turn things on.

It's not clear what the GSM differences are between the variants (if any). Only known issue for you is that the UK version doesn't have LTE Band 12... that may or maynot be an issue in your market. Band 12 is better at building penetration and long range than T-Mobiles workhorse band 4.

My understanding is that my phone has the band but it's some how locked. Am I misunderstanding how this works?

You can't get into the baseband code to change it.

Some devices have been possible in the past, but it's far and few in between.

Hell, the baseband code might not support band 12 at all. Not just artificially lock it out.

Either way, you'd have to root the device and mess around with recovery and other such things, ND that's just not happening on a BlackBerry device.
