Is there or isn't FM radio inside K1?

Ability is there. Up to carrier to activate. Only works with headphones.

It works on all unlocked phones and all carrier contract phones in Canada.

There is on factory unlocked devices. I don't know about carrier branded devices. The anyone know how to get Bluetooth headphones to work with the Radio?

I know on my Classic, you had to use wired headphones as they act as the antenna for the radio. I don't know how Bluetooth could do the same. Unless you can cheat and find something on Kickstarter or another crowd funding site.

Not possible. Without a headphone cord, there's no antenna. Even if you plugged in headphones (or an aux cord or similar), radio apps won't output the audio over Bluetooth (it's either headphones or internal speaker).

Your only solution would be to use a device with an internal antenna. But those are quite rare. I think some ancient Nokias used to have this feature.

I use my 3.5 mm male phone plug to 3.5 male phone plug cable to connect to my exterior (Bose) speaker. The cable acts as the antenna. Although my Passport has great speakers - the Bose speaker boosts the sound even more.

Going forward - I'm now thinking the KeyOne is my first move away from BlackBerry OS10.

Hope the KeyOne has speakers/sound similar to my Passport.

Same as Passport? Must have wired ear bud which is a required antenna.

Yes and I have used a sound cable in the headphone jack to the Aux port of the Bose unit as well and it worked pretty well as an antenna for the FM radio.

Definitely no AM. The interference alone from the cell radio would kill any reception.

You can plug any audio cable into to the headphone jack for FM radio and you can switch the sound output to the speaker at the same time.

Yes, that's what I meant about the internal speaker on the phone. You can't get the audio from the FM Radio app to go over Bluetooth though AFAIK (even if you did plug a cord into the headphone jack as well).

So you're saying you can play music coming out of the speaker over Bluetooth, but you can't play FM radio you've switched to come out of the same speaker over Bluetooth?

If BlackBerrys work the same as my V20, then yes. Here's what I see when I plug an aux cord in and then connect my Bose QC35 Bluetooth headphones. FM Radio?-screenshot_2017-05-28-23-43-12.png

Does the V20 FM radio app allow you to switch the audio output from headphone to speaker by tapping the headphone icon like it does on my DTEK?

Yes it does, but only if no Bluetooth headphones / speakers are connected.
Must be an issue with Bluetooth transmissions interfering with FM reception.

I seem to recall at least earlier Bluetooth modems handling FM tuner capabilities as well. Not sure if that's the case in the latest Qualcomm SoCs or not.

It might have to do with how the FM receiver is wired to the audio chip. I recall looking at schematics for another Android phone with FM radio and seeing the audio output from the receiver connected to an auxiliary input on the audio chip. Perhaps this is why sound from the radio can't be played over Bluetooth.

There were some KEYone block diagrams with the FCC filings, but there wasn't enough detail on exactly how all the audio components were connected.

this may be a dumb question, but how do you start the FM radio? i get that you need to plug in your headphones but then what? is it a separate app or maybe i just dont have it/see it (unlocked on ATT)
