Had Dtek 60 for 3 weeks. love this device, except it mutes and drops my phone calls from time to time. My z10,z30 and passport never did this .Today I ran BBVE tests on proximity sensors on Dtek 60, z30 , and passport. Here are the results:
Z30 and passport detect near when my hand is within 1 and half inch.
For Dtek60, it is about 1/4 of an inch, any slight hand movement can cause the state change between near and far.
Does anyone else have the same problem? Or it is just my bad luck.

So it sounds like the screen is on and receiving accidental hang-up and mute touches while you are talking. I know it doesn't fix everything, but as a workaround try keeping the device pushed against your ear when on calls, also be sure it's upright on it's side edge, as the tilt side to side is also detected during calls.

Yes, I also experience this. We also talked about it right at launch. It makes me use my Bluetooth earpiece more than usual because whenever possible I want to avoid having the screen come on right next to my ear while on a voice call.

Otherwise things are great so far!

Totally agree, I'm cannot image how BlackBerry QA miss this basic function, unless it is a manufacturing problem.

It's an unbelievable annoyance!! I use the phone mainly for work : 20-30 must reply daily correspondences . I find that I activate apps even when the phone is firmly pressed against my ear...I shouldn't have to deal with this!!! BlackBerry are you listening?!??!!!

Also, make sure you aren't accidentally hitting the convenience key -- it mutes during a call. I made that mistake a couple of times before I realized what was causing it.

Run bbve sensor test , see if the sensor detects "near" reasonably

I have also experienced this issue. The only quick temporary fix that I have been able to come up with so far is to hit the lock button on the left while I'm on a phone call. It disables the screen until you unlock it.

It detects "near" reasonably well. I'd like to turn it off though, it's quite an interruption

Hi...i am a new user here. My problem is that phone is often turning on the display during a call when I don't have phone very tightly applied to my ear. So my question is:
Is there any way to calibrate the proximity sensor on P7000? On Samsung there is something like service code with which user can modify sensitivity of proximity sensor. Is it possible on P7000?
