Hi all, day #2 with my new DTEK60 and I'm experiencing some issues.

When I have headphones on and if the cord and jack are touched a little the following occurs at random:

    Music pauses/plays randomly
    Skips songs randomly
    Triggers Google Now
Causes volume level to go up / down randomly
Headphone cord button doesn't work (BlackBerry pods)

    Anyone else having these issues?

    UPDATE:

I've been getting a lot of feedback (thank you! &#128587 It seems like no other DTEK60 owners are affected so it looks like an isolated issue which is good news.
BlackBerry tech told me to do a hard boot by holding the power button for 32 seconds. No luck. They then told me to do a factory reset. No luck. I'm now being told to just get it exchanged, so I'll be visiting the pop-up store again this Sunday.

UPDATE #2: Replaced device at the BlackBerry Store and everything is perfect now

    MORAL OF THE STORY:
Glad I bought the device straight from BlackBerry..the were extremely helpful and replaced the device without hassle, I would of been screw if I bought it on eBay or Craigslist

Sounds like a mechanical fault in either headphones or device OR if you are lucky some fluff/material in the device headphone socket.

Does your headphone have pause, volume up, volume down controls? If so then it's your headphones causing the glitches.

Guys I really think it's a hardware issue.
I've tested a few different 3.5mm jacks, take a look at the photo attached :

Right: standard male to male cable connected to my home stereo. This type of 3.5mm (with 2 rings) doesn't give me any problems.

Middle: from a $160 pair of headphones with media controls, notice the 3rd ring. This one gives me problems.

Left: Included Blackberry pods, same type of 3-ring jack with media control, also gives me problems.

Incidentally, the aux cable in my car stereo never gave me issues because it's the 2 ring type.

    Your thoughts?

I'm going to call BlackBerry support

It's not the headphone controls, I tried 2 different types of headphones.
I made the video below explaining the problem

Good to know, I hope it's just my unit and not a common problem

Run BB Virtual Expert. I believe there's a headphone test. Make sure to plug them FULLY in. Sometimes it can take a bit of force.

Here is an article about the difference, but really does not make sense in your case:
    https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-di...hone-headphone

    But in short:
    1 stripe for Mono-Audio,
    2 stripes for Stereo-Audio,
3 stripes for Video + Stereo-Audio (rare, and usually usable only for specific devices).

The Z30. Passport has a radio on board. You will find it in your music player . When you start up press the left 3 lines and the last option is radio. plug in also a headset and you have radio ,

Actually, I just did my own research and found out that:

    Single ring= mono
    Double ring= stereo (left/right)
    Triple ring= stereo+microphone

So..... It looks like the mic section contacts might be defective on my DTEK60

Just saw a video on YouTube about the exact same issue. One of the comments said it occurred with his Priv and it was a software issue. I'd suggest you call BlackBerry support to see if there's a quick way around. Here's a link for reference:
