Maybe if everyone who is pro BlackBerry went out to stores and asked to see demo models of DTEK50 then that would influence these carriers? I'm going to start looking at stores in my city.

Don't think any stores in the US would have them.

I know the devices are available in Europe. Do you literally mean that there are no demo units out on display?
Yes i mean there are no demo devices to show out to people not in Germany nor in Poland and not in Greece , I report those 3 countries for sure they do now have any demo devices i dont care even if it is a plastic thing or fake phone but i wann see how big it is how it feels in hand and how light or heavy it is ...

Just got mine from Rogers a week ago. Had a Leap, and made "the big move" to an Android. I've been very impressed so far, aside from the difference in battery life. My Leap went entire day without recharge but I expect it will improve a bit once I get a handle on the Droid OS and the things I can do to conserve battery life. It's very responsive, and is more than I expected.

Went into a Rogers and Bell stores in a underground mall in Winnipeg. Service person at Rogers didn't seem to know what DTEK50 was at first then looked it up and said yes they had it. I asked if there was demo model she asked someone in back and then showed me a model that was un boxed but with no power working battery. But at least I was able to hold it, get a feel of its weight (super light). She said they were too small to have working model, it would be too risky, but larger mall stores would have working models.

Bell said they would have some DTEK50 in a few weeks, I asked if theyll have a demo model and he just said no.

    So there you go.

Go to a Rogers Plus Store. They are corporate stores and not franchises. Google it to find where they are in the Peg.

I'm currios if Orange will bring into the stores.
Also I would wish that Blackberry will transform their launcher into THEIR launcher by personalising more then it already is. I hope that we will se these updates in the feature.

Went to another larger Rogers store yesterday. Still no working demo though this time the sales person suggested to experience the OS by trying out the PRIV demo. Good suggestion and I have very little experience with an Android OS so I spent 15 min playing. Limited as to what I could do as there was no wifi or data setup. But I know it'll be an adjustment. I will keep asking about Demo DTEK50s.

Nice to see Costco carrying a Blackberry device again
Yes, it is. BTW, same Costco in Ottawa (merivale rd.) now has a functional unit out on display. I picked it up to play a bit but a pesky 3 year old kept pulling me away from the phone stand.. I'll have to give it another go next time I'm there...

Now 19.99$ at Costco with 125$ cash card... It's like 300$ cdn for the Dtek... Lock with a Bell or Rodgers plan

I'm not much into contracts, especially with those two carriers. I'd have liked to see an outright buy price if purchased at Costco but I didn't see one advertised.

Went to a family members' house for dinner yesterday with my wife and kids. Their household is pro BlackBerry as well. When the husband's Z30 crapped out, he went to Leap. Had his Leap replaced under warranty with another. The speaker went on that one and warranty wouldn't fix it, so he got a DTEK50. Still getting used to the device but he likes it a lot so far. I know I started this thread because I saw one at a carrier store, but was able to tinker with this one far more, and even showed him how to setup and use popup widgets which he didn't even know existed. He loves it more now.

Can I just say that feeling the phone in hand, without an anti-theft suctioned to the back of it, it feels awesome, has a great weight and feel to it. Very impressed, moreso than before. I was still considering waiting for dtek60 to release then make my decision, but I don't think I need it. I think I'm going to jump for the 50. Aside from the battery life which can be made to meet my needs, everything else is great about it.

Played with one at Costco yesterday.

It was fine. Nothing special but it definitely felt good in the hand and performance seemed snappy.

If I needed a new phone I would consider it, especially if I had to pay for it in full.

Unfortunately in my town I cannot find or try any Blackberry DTEK 50. I hope that I will see it in another towns from this region.
I hope as well to see live the DTEK 60, due to its better specs I think that it will not cost more than 100$ over DTEK 50.
